The Elves and the Shoemaker
Family Puppet Workshop

Saturday 6 December, 10am - 1pm

At Parlour Bookshop, Muswell Hill

For families with children aged 6–11

Step into the magical world of The Elves and the Shoemaker — and reimagine it together!

In this creative, hands-on family workshop, parents and children will design, build, and paint their own modern marionette, inspired by the timeless tale of kindness, imagination, and teamwork.

Working side by side, each family will craft a unique puppet using recycled materials, socks, cardboard, fabric, string, and paint — all provided on-site. You’ll explore what the story might look like today: What would the elves wear? What would they fix? What makes them special?

The workshop is guided by We Make Stories, a London-based initiative that celebrates collaboration, creativity, and storytelling through art. No experience needed — just a curious mind and a willingness to get a little paint on your fingers!

We’ll finish with a mini puppet showcase where each family can introduce their creation before taking it home to continue the story.
